Was responsible for the design and coding for the main site, http://www.streetfusion.com, the internal web-based admin tool SalesAdmin, XML data feeds to our retail partners (go2net, CBS Marketwatch, Yahoo Finance). Interfaces with QA and Network Operations departments for quality and deployment issues respectively. Worked closely with Product Management and leadership team (CEO, President, SVP of Product Development) to define requirements, write specifications and some business analysis. Additional duties included department resource planning (hardware/software/head-count), hiring, firing, reviews, and compensation. Team consisted of 3 senior engineers, 6 engineers and 1 contractor).

Database Engineering (1997-1999)

Manage team of 5 Database Engineers, ranging from Associate to Senior in skill set. Responsibilities include staffing (hiring, reviews, resource planning). The Database Engineering Group is responsible for company wide database activities, both for internal and external projects and products.
FOCALpt (1996-1999)
Technologies: NT Server 4.0, MS SQL Server 6.5, IE 4.0, IIS 3.0, Active Server Pages, HTML, DHTML, ActiveX, VB5, Access 7, Visual SourceSafe 5 Designed and implemented a database driven web environment that allows for dynamic navigation. Site is broken down by modules and functionality within those modules. The structure allows for different functionality based on previous choices made in the system. The system uses NT Server 4.0 with Internet Information Server 3.0 (IIS) and Active Server Pages to dynamically generate HTML pages via a SQL Server database. Built an Active-X control to allow for a pop-up help window to be always on top. The FOCALpt system was designed for Ford Motor Company to be an Extranet application to be run in their dealerships world wide. This system includes a Showroom module which is a marketing encyclopedia format showing the available makes and models and various marketing martial. It also includes a to do module, customer module, and a product configurator, which allows the user to pick exterior and interior colors, and options.
SalesExcelerator (1994-1999)
Technologies: VB3, VB6, SQL Server 6.5, COM, Access 96/Jet, MAPI, OLE Automation, Visual SourceSafe, Windows Meta Files (WMF), Video (AVI), Sound (WAV) and the Windows API. Helped design and implement SoftAd's sales force automation product. Also implemented coding and UI standards, an extendible architecture to allow the product to be tailored to a clients' needs while still maintaining a high level of shared code. First version used MAPI to send and receive database and file updates, was later converted to third party replication system (Synchrologic). Designed and built SalesExcelerator DataPump. The DataPump provided a mechanism for external data to be "pumped" into the SalesExcelerator server. Architectured to be a common set of services with plug-ins (VB6 COM component) for each particular input file. The plug-in would apply the business rules to the input data (insert, update, delete). General reporting and error handling capability was built in. SalesExcelerator consisted of several modules, including, Sales Library (marketing encyclopedia), To Do, Customer (contact management), Presentation (used WMFs and AVIs to allow user to make a custom presentation), Proposal (which used OLE automation to run Word and generate custom documents including mail merge).
Ford Simulator (1995-1997)
Technologies: VB3, Borland C++, Windows, DOS Designed and implemented a Windows based version 6 of SoftAd's Ford Simulator 5.0 package which was available to the general public on diskette and CDROM. Wrote a DLL (Borland C++) that was used for both the DOS and Windows versions to access a FoxPro 2.6 database and to encapsulate business logic and the database in case we needed to update in the future. Created seamless integration with a DOS based game under both Windows 3.1 and 95. Included WAV and AVI support. Redesigned the Ford Simulator for version 7.0 to allow for better modularity to handle other consumers of the product. Two offshoots were the Lincoln-Mercury Kiosk (which was shown at auto shows) and the UAW kiosk (which is currently in Ford plants for the UAW workers to get pricing and vehicle information)
